Governor Yusuf Approves ₦38.69bn for Security, Education, Infrastructure, Health, and Water Projects Across the State

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved ₦38,698,282,407.94 for various development projects and essential obligations across key sectors in the state.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The approvals were reached during the 35th Executive Council Meeting held on 18th December 2025 at the Council Chamber, Government House, Kano, chaired by the governor.

The allocated funds span security, education, road infrastructure, water supply, health, agriculture, energy, and compensation payments in both urban and rural areas.

For security, the Council approved the purchase of 300 motorcycles for the Neighbourhood Watch Corps and endorsed their confirmation into the state workforce with permanent and pensionable appointments.

In the education sector, the funds cover payment of outstanding claims to boarding school suppliers, rehabilitation and relocation of schools, procurement of 50,000 school bags, and settlement of pending certificates for classroom construction projects across the 44 local government areas.

Infrastructure projects include major road construction and rehabilitation, covering urban routes, rural feeder roads, airport access corridors, and other strategic highways across Kano State.

In the water sector, approvals were granted for dam rehabilitation, pipeline upgrades, and Phase II of the Abba Kabir Yusuf Reach-Out Water Supply Projects targeting underserved communities.

The funds will also support renovation of healthcare facilities, settlement of diesel and electricity debts, mosque construction and renovation, agricultural access roads, and ₦6.81 billion compensation to 5,015 Rimin Zakara property owners.

Governor Yusuf stated that the approvals demonstrate his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, infrastructure development, enhanced security, and improved living standards for Kano residents.
