The Kano State Government has commenced a statewide inspection of Ramadan feeding centres to monitor the preparation and distribution of meals to fasting Muslims during the holy month.
The inspection tour, aimed at ensuring compliance with government guidelines, is designed to promote proper hygiene, quality control and fairness in the distribution of food across designated centres in the state.
Leading the delegation is the Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tijjani Auwal Sani, who said the exercise was initiated to guarantee that beneficiaries receive quality meals prepared under hygienic conditions.
According to him, the feeding programme is a key intervention of the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf, aimed at supporting fasting Muslims, particularly the less privileged, during Ramadan.
During the inspection, the committee visited several centres, including the Sheikh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi Mosque in Fagge Local Government Area and Hasiya Bayero Hospital in Municipal Local Government Area.
At the centres, officials assessed food handling processes, sanitary conditions and the methods used in distributing meals to beneficiaries.
The team also interacted with programme coordinators and other officials overseeing the initiative to identify operational challenges and explore measures to enhance efficiency.
Sheikh Tijjani Auwal Sani commended coordinators for their dedication and commitment to the successful implementation of the programme.
However, he warned that the state government would not tolerate negligence or any failure to adhere to established standards.
He assured that the inspection exercise would continue across the state to ensure transparency, accountability and effectiveness of the Ramadan feeding programme.
The committee chairman further urged members of the public to cooperate with the government and promptly report any irregularities to ensure that food items reach intended beneficiaries without diversion.
