Police Disburse ₦3m to Injured Officers, Families in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has distributed cheques amounting to N3.18 million to five next of kin and a police officer, beneficiaries of the Group Personnel Accident Insurance Scheme.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, a copy of which was made available to PUNCH Online on Thursday night.

“Today, March 12, 2026, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, distributed cheques amounting to N3,188,685.80 to five next of kin and a Police Officer beneficiaries of the Group Personnel Accident Insurance Scheme,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the initiative is a testament to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of Police officers and their families, particularly those affected by accidents and injuries.

The beneficiaries, comprising families of injured Police Officers and Officers who were victims of accidents, received the financial support as a gesture of the Nigeria Police Force’s care and concern for their well-being.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, conveyed the IGP’s message to the beneficiaries, urging them to use the funds judiciously for their health and well-being.

He also prayed for the departed souls of the deceased officers.

The beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to the IGP for the timely support, acknowledging the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts in ensuring that its personnel and their families are protected and cared for in times of need.

The Kano State Police Command commended the IGP’s initiative. It reaffirmed its commitment to serving the community with dedication and professionalism, while also ensuring the welfare and well-being of its personnel.
