Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued the abducted Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area following a targeted operation in Rano.
The council secretary was reportedly kidnapped days earlier at his residence in Kibiya by armed assailants, who later demanded a ransom of N100 million.
Security sources indicated that the kidnappers allegedly tracked the victim using insider information provided by a local resident.
Intelligence reports further suggested that the suspects were believed to have originated from Rijana, an area previously associated with criminal activities along the Kaduna–Abuja corridor.
Acting on credible intelligence, DSS operatives identified the suspects’ hideout in Rano and launched a coordinated raid in the early hours of Tuesday. A gun battle ensued during the operation.
The victim was rescued alive, while two suspects were arrested. Two other members of the gang reportedly escaped with gunshot injuries and are currently being tracked by security operatives.
The rescued official is said to be in stable condition and is receiving medical attention ahead of reunification with his family.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing insecurity, pledging intensified efforts to curb kidnapping and banditry across the state.
