The Kano State Government has reiterated its determination to strengthen the state’s security architecture through enhanced monitoring of vehicular movement into the metropolis.
The Commissioner for Housing Development, Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, stated this on Saturday while handing over seven sites for the construction of Tall Gates at major entry points into Kano.
In a statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Adamu Abdullahi, the commissioner said the government had resolved to erect the Tall Gates on all major roads leading into the state capital with a view to boosting security and improving socio-economic activities.
“The state government is determined to enhance the security apparatus through adequate monitoring of vehicular movement into the state,” he said.
He added, “The government has resolved to mount the Tall Gates on all major roads leading into the state metropolis with a view to boosting the security and socio-economic development of Kano State.”
The commissioner disclosed the plan during the official handover of the project sites to contractors and urged them to ensure the timely completion of the projects.
He said the contractors must deliver the projects within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that the initiative was part of the government’s broader efforts to safeguard lives and property.
The ceremony, which took place across the seven designated locations, was witnessed by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Marwan Ahmed, and the Commissioner for Public Procurement, Nura Ma’aji.
The event featured the signing of handover notes between the contractors, representatives of the Ministry of Housing Development, and the project consultant.
The proposed sites for the Tall Gates are located along Daura Road, Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Hadejia Road, and Sa’adatu Rimi Road.
