The management of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila has rusticated nine students over their involvement in examination malpractice during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The development was disclosed in a Special Bulletin issued by the university’s Registry following the approval of the institution’s Senate after reviewing reported cases of examination misconduct and plagiarism.
According to the bulletin, the affected students were found guilty of violating the institution’s examination regulations.
“The management of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano, has rusticated nine students for their involvement in examination malpractice during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session,” the statement said.
It added that the decision followed a thorough review of the cases by the university authorities.
“Following the approval of the institution’s Senate after reviewing reported cases of examination misconduct and plagiarism, the affected students were found guilty of violating the institution’s examination regulations,” the statement added.
The management noted that the Senate consequently approved the rustication of the students for one academic session as part of disciplinary measures.
“Consequently, the Senate approved their rustication for one academic session as part of disciplinary measures aimed at maintaining academic integrity and upholding the university’s standards,” the statement said.
The university stressed that the decision underscores its commitment to upholding discipline and academic honesty.
“The decision reflects the university’s firm commitment to promoting honesty, discipline, and fairness within its academic environment. Examination malpractice and all forms of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the statement noted.
The management further urged students to strictly comply with examination rules and regulations, emphasizing that integrity remains key to the institution’s academic mission.
It added that the university community had been advised to take note of the Senate’s decision and continue to uphold the core values of the institution.
