The Kano State Police Command has arrested a syndicate of six suspected car thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles in the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the vehicles in a statement on Sunday.
“The Kano State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat vehicle theft in the state, with the arrest of a syndicate of six suspected car thieves and the recovery of three stolen vehicles.
“In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on sustained intelligence-led and technology-driven operations, the Command’s Special Intervention Squad, under the guidance of CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, arrested one Aliyu Mamman, a 35-year-old serial car thief, at Hotoro Ring Road, Kano, on February 13, 2026”, the statement partly read.
Haruna said the suspect, a resident of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, confessed to stealing several vehicles in Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina states.
“He implicated his syndicate members, including Abdulhamid Usman, Saliha Abdulhamid, Auwal Shuaibu, Sani Bala, and Ahmad Mannir, all of whom have been arrested,” Haruna said.
According to the statement, the suspects confessed to the crimes, leading to the recovery of three vehicles: a Golf Wagon, an Opel Golf, and a Hijet (Kurkura).
The Commissioner of Police commended the Special Intervention Squad for its dedication and professionalism in effecting the arrests and recovering the vehicles.
