Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command on Tuesday, arrested Abdullahi Umar and Yunusa Isiya, for allegedly robbing a filling station along Akwanga–Keffi Road, of an unspecified amount of money.

Spokesperson for the command, Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Wednesday, said the duo who claimed to be traders from Kano State, committed the offence alongside three other suspects who fled the scene with their operational vehicle.

Mr Ramhan said, “On 27th January, 2026, at about 0010hrs, a distress call was received reporting that five (5) armed men had stormed a Mobile Filling Station along Akwanga–Keffi Road, where they tied up the security man on duty, broke into the office, and made away with an unspecified amount of money.

“Upon receipt of the distress call, patrol teams attached to Akwanga Division were swiftly deployed to the scene.”

He stated that the prompt response led to a hot chase of the fleeing suspects, during which two (2) suspects, Abdullahi Umar and Yunusa Isiya, both males of Rijiyan Zaki, Kano State, were arrested, while three (3) others escaped in a black Toyota Camry vehicle used for the operation.

Stating that the police recovered three gallons of four-litre Mobil engine oil, ₦418,000 cash, a motorcycle key and two bags, Mr Ramhan said the suspects, during interrogation, “confessed to being traders in Kano State,” and claimed that “they lost their goods in a motor accident and subsequently resorted to crime in order to survive.”

The spokesman said that the state Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, ordered detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
