Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has attended the 2026 swearing-in ceremony of 68 newly conferred Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) at the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Abuja, where he congratulated Kano State’s candidate, Barrister Sagir Gezawa Suleiman, on his elevation to the prestigious rank alongside 67 other lawyers.
The 68 recipients comprise 67 legal practitioners and one academic, Professor Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri.

Governor Yusuf described Gezawa as a competent and incorruptible legal practitioner whose achievement has brought honour to Kano State.
He urged him to remain a worthy ambassador of the state by upholding the highest standards of professional ethics, integrity and justice in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The Governor noted that Gezawa’s elevation was a source of pride and encouragement to Kano’s legal community, urging young lawyers to draw inspiration from his achievement through hard work, discipline and commitment to the rule of law.
He recalled that Kano State has continued to produce distinguished legal practitioners, citing Barrister Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude and Barrister Aminu Gadanya, who attained the SAN rank in 2025, as well as Barrister Sunusi Musa and Barrister Abdul Adamu Fagge who was elevated in 2024.
