The Constituency Office of the Kano Central Senatorial District has directed all chairmen of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) across the district’s local government areas to return vehicles earlier provided to them by Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga for party activities.
The directive was contained in a letter dated January 28, 2026, signed by the Secretary of the Senator’s Constituency Office, Engr. Ibrahim Nakwalli Kawaji, and addressed to the NNPP Chairman of Kura Local Government Area, Alhaji Ubale Isyaku Waskas.
In the letter, the constituency office instructed that “the party vehicle that was given to you by Distinguished Senator Rufa’i Hanga for the use of NNPP activities in your Local Government Area should be returned to his office at No. 48 Sokoto Road, Nasarawa GRA, Kano, starting from Wednesday, January 28, 2026, to Friday, January 30, 2026.”
It added that the vehicle “will be kept at the Senator’s office until the party resolves its internal matters,” while urging the chairman to “continue serving the party faithfully during this period.”
The letter further stated that the vehicle must be handed over directly to the Head of the Senator’s Office, Alhaji Shehu Tijjani Usman Tarauni, and stressed the need for strict compliance with the directive, noting that the vehicle remains party property.
Although the letter was addressed to the chairman of Kura Local Government Area, it was gathered that the directive applies to all NNPP local government chairmen under the Kano Central Senatorial District.
The affected local government areas include Dala, Dawakin Kudu, Fagge, Garun Mallam, Gezawa, Gwale, Kano Municipal, Kumbotso, Kura, Madobi, Minjibir, Nasarawa, Tarauni, Ungogo and Warawa.
Meanwhile, Kano Times reports that Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, last week formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside 22 members of the State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives and the 44 local government council chairmen in the state.
Efforts to reach the Kura Local Government chairman for comments were ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
