Kano Govt Disowns Petition Seeking to Bar Kwankwaso from Entering State

The Kano State Government has denied allegations that it wrote a petition to the Federal Government seeking to prevent Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from entering the state, describing the claim as false and politically motivated.

In a statement issued on Thursday evening, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed the allegation made by Kwankwaso’s ally Engr. Buba Galadima, as “reckless and unfounded.”

Our sources reports that Galadima in an interview with DCL Hausa earlier on Thursday had claimed a petition was sent to the president from Kano State to ban Kwankwaso’s entry to the state.

But, in a swift response, the Kano State government “categorically” refuted the claim that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf wrote to any federal authority with the intention of stopping Kwankwaso or any Nigerian citizen from accessing Kano State.

“At no time did the Kano State Government write to the Federal Government or any authority with the intention of preventing Senator Kwankwaso, or any Nigerian citizen, from entering Kano State,” the statement read.

It further described the allegation as “false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension in the state,” adding that such a claim “exists only in the imagination of its sponsors and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.”

The State government maintained that Kano remained “a peaceful and law-abiding state where the constitutional rights of every citizen, including freedom of movement and association, are respected and protected.”

While reaffirming its commitment to governance and service delivery, the administration said it would not be distracted by what it termed “petty political distractions.”

“It is unfortunate that instead of engaging in constructive political discourse, certain individuals have chosen the path of spreading baseless allegations capable of overheating the polity,” the statement added, warning against dragging the Federal Government into local political narratives without evidence.

The government called on Galadima to provide “credible evidence” to support his claims or withdraw the statement “in the interest of peace and political maturity,” stressing that public figures must be mindful of the consequences of misinformation.”No amount of political provocation will distract the government from delivering on its mandate.”

It assured residents that the administration remained committed to peace, unity and the democratic rights of all citizens.”No amount of political provocation will distract the government from delivering on its mandate,” The statement emphasised
