Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of Kano State Polytechnic.

This follows the relief of Engr. Buba Galadima from the position, a decision confirmed in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.

The statement explained that Galadima’s removal was part of a broader restructuring in line with the Kano First Agenda. Although the tenure of the Governing Council is set for three years, the governor said the appointment of the chairman was terminated ahead of schedule to ensure optimal performance of the polytechnic.

Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to Engr. Galadima for his contributions during his tenure, saying, “We appreciate Engr. Buba Galadima for the services he rendered to Kano State Polytechnic while serving as Chairman of the Governing Council.”

He further charged the newly appointed chairman to leverage his experience and leadership in repositioning the institution.

“We urge the Emir of Gaya to bring his wealth of experience, leadership, and commitment to bear in enhancing both the academic and administrative excellence of Kano State Polytechnic,” the governor said.

The appointment marks a key step in the ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the institution’s governance and academic standards.
