The Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (BCAI) says it is working with the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs and other stakeholders to strengthen coordination on women empowerment initiatives in Kano.
The initiative is supported by the French Embassy in Nigeria and implemented in partnership with AgrofixNG.
Project Lead, Nathan Bako, said the collaboration is being implemented through the Women Against Violence Empowered Through Sustainability (WAVES) project.
Bako made the disclosure on Thursday in Kano during a dissemination event organised to present lessons learned from the project after nine months of implementation.
According to him, the project supported the integration of the Gender Equity and Women Economic Empowerment Committee chaired by the Commissioner for Women Affairs.
He explained that the platform brings together government agencies, civil society organisations, security institutions and faith-based groups to improve policy coordination.
Also speaking, the Technical Partner’s Team Lead of AgrofixNG, Eric Andrew, said the initiative also generated knowledge resources to support future interventions.
Andrew added that the project’s ecosystem approach encourages collaboration among stakeholders working on women empowerment and gender-based violence
