Barau FC on Thursday secured a place in the final of the Kano State Federation Cup after a dominant 4-0 victory over Chanji FC in the semi-final encounter.

The match, played at the Sani Abacha Stadium, saw Barau FC—popularly known as the Maliya Boys—outclass their opponents from start to finish.

According to a statement signed by the club’s Media Director, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, the team delivered a “commanding performance” to seal qualification for the final of the 2026 competition.

Barau FC opened the scoring in the 44th minute through Joseph Atule, who finished off a brilliant assist from Abdulmajid Aminu to give his side the lead just before the break.

The statement noted that the team maintained their momentum after halftime, as Aminu doubled the lead in the 50th minute before netting his second goal of the match in the 60th minute.

“Barau FC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Chanji FC 4–0… sealing their place in the final,” the statement read.

Youngster Adamu Hussein added the fourth goal in the 65th minute, effectively putting the result beyond doubt.

Gwale further highlighted the tactical input of the team’s coach, stating that “Coach Rabiu Tata’s tactical setup once again demonstrated his experience and expertise in the Federation Cup.”

Barau FC’s starting lineup featured Emeka Nwabulu in goal, alongside Sugau Aliyu, Sunday Dapma, Emmanuel Okoko, and Moses Tsehuan in defence, while Usman Maidubji captained the side.

Other players included Sa’ad Tijjani, Ebuka Nwokorie, Joseph Atule, Adamu Hussein, and Abdulmajid Aminu.

The team made several substitutions in the second half, with Stanley Oganbor, Bismark Duah, and Chisom Flavian introduced in the 61st minute, while Jimmy Ambrose came on later in the game.

Barau FC will now face either Kano Pillars or Bichi First FC in the final scheduled to hold on Sunday at the same venue.
