Governor Abba Yusuf has called on residents of Kano State to intensify prayers for peace, unity and sustainable development as the Ramadan fast winds down and Eid-el-Fitr approaches.

The governor made the call during the 38th State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Kano, urging citizens to take advantage of the spiritual period to seek divine intervention for the progress of the state.

“As we approach the end of Ramadan, we pray to Allah to accept our acts of worship and supplications. I call on all citizens to intensify prayers for peace, unity and continued development of our dear state,” he said.

Yusuf also urged Muslims to sustain the spirit of prayers during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, noting that collective supplication remains vital to achieving stability and prosperity.

The governor, however, used the occasion to highlight recent political and administrative developments, including a strategic political realignment by key stakeholders, which he said was in the best interest of the state.

He said the decision was aimed at fostering stronger collaboration with the federal government to attract economic growth, infrastructural development and restore the state’s dignity.

Yusuf disclosed that five commissioners resigned following the development, adding that their resignations had been accepted. He charged those who remained in the cabinet to be loyal and committed to the administration’s agenda, warning against acts of disloyalty and indiscipline.

“We must remain united and focused. The era of rancour and disloyalty is over. Any act contrary to the principles of this administration will not be tolerated,” he stated.

On legislative matters, the governor congratulated candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who emerged victorious in the February 21, 2026 by-elections, urging them to justify the mandate given to them by their constituents.

He also commended the successful conduct of the party’s congresses and congratulated Haruna Umar Doguwa on his emergence as the state chairman of the party.

The governor further outlined key interventions by his administration, including the distribution of 600 motorcycles to social media influencers to enhance information dissemination and public enlightenment.

He added that the state government established 150 Ramadan feeding centres and distributed food items worth billions of naira to vulnerable groups across the 44 local government areas.

Yusuf also appreciated the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for facilitating N5 billion assistance to victims of recent fire incidents, while the APC Governors Forum donated N3 billion.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, unity and improved welfare of the people, urging public officials to remain dedicated to service delivery.
