In a significant move to strengthen the teaching workforce in Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed the immediate employment of over 4,000 teachers who recently completed the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf made the announcement during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of instructional materials to schools in Kano.
He stated that all 4,000 staff will undergo an aptitude test, and those who pass will be offered permanent employment in the state civil service.
“This is part of our effort to reward dedication and ensure quality education delivery. Only those who are qualified and capable will be absorbed into the system,” the governor stated.
The move reflects the administration’s commitment to not only improving infrastructure but also enhancing the quality of teaching through merit-based employment and professional stability.
The Governor therefore directed for screening of all candidates for immediate recruitment into the state civil service under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
