Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Bala Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji, has resigned from his appointment as he sets his sights on the 2027 general elections.
Ja’oji’s resignation follows a directive from President Tinubu requiring all political appointees seeking elective positions in 2027 to step down on or before March 31, 2026.
The directive affects ministers, special advisers, senior special assistants, and other political appointees in the current administration.
In his resignation letter, Ja’oji expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as “a reflection of the administration’s commitment to youth development.”
He said, “My selection into key positions was driven by the president’s confidence in young Nigerians and his desire to empower them to contribute meaningfully to national development.”
The former aide also pledged his continued loyalty, stating, “I remain ready to serve the country in any capacity should the president call upon me in the future.”
Ja’oji praised the administration’s Renewed Hope Initiative, describing it as “a major driver of policies and programmes aimed at national growth,” and expressed optimism that many of the government’s policies could achieve greater results if given another term beyond 2027.
While he did not officially disclose the office he intends to contest, his resignation is widely seen as a clear signal of his political ambitions.
Supporters have welcomed the move, expressing confidence in his aspirations and pledging their backing.
It was gathered that Ja’oji is reportedly eyeing the Tarauni Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
