A daylight incursion by hundreds of motorcycle-riding bandits into a border town in Kano was thwarted by gallant joint Nigerian security forces, working with the Kano Civilian Joint Task Force, rescuing over 500 rustled cows and killing at least two of the attackers.

Revealing the development in a telephone call, the chairman of the Faruruwa Community Security Committee, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, commended the swift response of the security agencies, particularly the police, noting that he had spoken with the Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

He said, “The bandits riding about 150 motorcycles storms Tsauri town of Shanono Local Government area of the state, and they went to a Fulani man having over 2000 cows stealing almost all of them but they couldn’t get him.

“When we heard about the situation we quickly informed security and also all other nearby towns of Goron Dutse, Shanono, Tsanyawa and others to be alerted, while I personally called the Police Commissioner who immediately directed rapid response”.

Bagobiri hinted that the joint security team responded promptly and intercepted the bandits as they attempted to flee with the rustled cows, with some heading towards Katsina and others within Kano. The security operatives pursued them, killed about two of the attackers, and recovered 500 cows.

“We are extremely happy with the way the security are responding to our calls and this has resulted in having peace if not for what had happened today”, Yahya Bagobiri said.
