The Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Kano State, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, has praised the Court of Appeal for affirming the conviction of Abdulmalik Tanko, found guilty of abducting and murdering Hanifa Abubakar.
This was contained in a statement issued today by Abubakar Tijjani Ibrahim, Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Attorney-General.
Speaking on the development, AG Maude said:
“This landmark ruling strengthens public trust in our justice system and clearly demonstrates that serious crimes, especially those targeting innocent and vulnerable individuals, will be met with the full force of the law.”
He further stated:
“I commend Barrister Lamido Abba Sorondinki, a State Counsel at the Kano State Ministry of Justice, for his dedication, professionalism, and steadfast effort in ensuring the successful handling of this case. The Kano State Government remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is delivered without fear or favour.”
The Attorney-General also reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives—particularly those of children and other vulnerable groups—while stressing that criminal offences will continue to be firmly dealt with as prescribed by law.
