Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sacked his Political Adviser, Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso, and approved the appointment of Mustapha Bakwana as his replacement.
The development was disclosed by the governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a post shared on his verified social media handle.
Our sources reports that Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso, a close ally of the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had earlier announced his resignation from the position.
His resignation came shortly after Governor Yusuf announced his defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), a move that has continued to generate political reactions within Kano State.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Political Adviser, Mustapha Bakwana, is a former political adviser to ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Bakwana had dumped Ganduje and the All Progressives Congress (APC) a few months ago to join the NNPP under the Kwankwasiyya political movement.
His appointment is seen as part of ongoing political realignments following recent developments in the state’s political landscape.
