The Kano State Government has clarified that the restrictions on Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi durbars apply only to Kano Emirate and do not affect the Rano, Karaye, and Gaya Emirates.

Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, made the clarification on Wednesday following the announcement of Eid-el-Fitr security and celebration measures by the state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.

According to Dawakin-Tofa, “The announcement of durbar restrictions does not affect Rano, Karaye, and Gaya Emirates.”

Kano Times reports that the state government had earlier outlined measures for the upcoming Eid celebrations, warning against actions that could disrupt public peace and law and order.

The directive, signed by Comrade Waiya, followed intelligence reports indicating possible attempts by some individuals to create confusion during the festivities.

While the main Hawan Idi (Eid Durbar) in Kano Emirate will be conducted by His Highness, Sarkin Kano Muhammad Sanusi II, from the Kofar Mata Eid Praying Ground to Gidan Shettima, terminating at Kofar Fatalwa of the Kano Emir’s Palace, other durbars in the state’s emirates are expected to hold under normal arrangements.

The government also stated that the Hawan Nasarawa procession in Kano will take place in a modified form, excluding horseback participation, while Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi will remain under restrictions in Kano Emirate in the interest of public safety.

All security agencies have been directed to intensify surveillance and ensure strict compliance with the directives, taking all necessary lawful measures to prevent breaches of peace before, during, and after the festive period.

Residents have been urged to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies while avoiding the spread of unverified information.

“The Government also appreciates the continued dedication and professionalism of security agencies in ensuring the safety and stability of the state and reassures the public of its commitment to a peaceful and hitch-free celebration,” the statement added, extending best wishes to all Muslims for a joyful Eid-el-Fitr.
