The Kano State Police Command has conducted extensive raids across criminal hideouts and black spots in the state, resulting in the arrest of 193 suspects and the seizure of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.

The operation, carried out from April 10 to 12, 2026, was part of the strategic directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at increasing visibility patrols, conducting surveillance, and engaging communities to ensure public safety.

According to a statement released by the state police spokesman, Haruna Abdullahi, the raids were coordinated under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and led by Kano’s 11 area commanders.

Recovered items included 51 cutlasses, 15 sharp knives, 41 clubs (Gora), 72 rubber solutions, 69 sachets of Pregabalin, 259 Exol tablets, and a significant quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The statement noted that investigations into the suspects and the recovered items are ongoing, with patrols, surveillance, and monitoring of identified hotspots continuing across the state to maintain peace and security.

Commissioner Bakori commended the officers for their professionalism and resilience, and thanked the public for their continuous support and timely information, emphasising that such collaboration is crucial to the success of police operations.

The Kano State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating criminal threats and ensuring the safety of law-abiding residents, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
