Residents of Yankamaye community in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State were thrown into panic on Monday night after suspected gunmen invaded the area, killing three persons and forcing many villagers to flee their homes.

Kano Times gathered that the assailants stormed the community and began shooting sporadically at residents and houses, creating widespread fear and confusion.

The member representing Ghari and Tsanyawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sani Bala, confirmed the incident in a statement shared online, revealing that three bodies had been recovered following the attack.

“As at the time of this update, three people have been confirmed dead,” the lawmaker stated, while expressing concern over the worsening security situation within the constituency.

A resident, Saifullahi Soro Daya, said many villagers abandoned their homes as the attackers continued firing indiscriminately across the community.

“The attackers entered the town shooting without stopping, and people had no option but to run for their lives,” he said.

Another resident, Madahuru Ibrahim, disclosed that several persons sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Residents of Yankamaye and neighbouring communities have since appealed to security agencies to intensify surveillance and deploy additional personnel to prevent further attacks.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to release an official statement on the incident.
