Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage exercise.

The appointment was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Kano Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz, has also been appointed as the Deputy Amirul Hajj for the forthcoming pilgrimage.

“The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 Hajj exercise,” the statement read.

It added that the appointment is aimed at ensuring effective coordination and the successful conduct of pilgrimage activities for intending pilgrims from Kano State.

The statement further noted that the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has been directed to provide maximum support to the Amirul Hajj and his deputy to guarantee smooth operations throughout the exercise.

“The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board is expected to provide maximum support to the Amirul Hajj and his deputy to ensure smooth and successful operations,” the statement added.

The government also prayed for a hitch-free pilgrimage, wishing the Amirul Hajj, his deputy, and the management and staff of the board success in the assignment.

It further expressed hope that all pilgrims from the state would perform an accepted Hajj and return home safely.
