The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has again paid the registration fees of 66 football clubs in Kano State for this year’s Nationwide League One competition.

Barau also donated three buses to the Nationwide League One Kano Forum, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Kano chapter, and the Kano State Football Referees Council to improve mobility within the sports community.

The senator announced the payment of the N25m registration fees and the donation of the vehicles during a courtesy visit by officials of the Nationwide League One Football Clubs Forum, the Kano State Football Association, the SWAN Kano chapter, and the Kano State Referees Council at the National Assembly, Abuja, on Tuesday.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.

The statement noted that Barau had similarly paid the registration fees of all Kano clubs participating in the competition last year following an appeal by the leadership of the Nationwide League One Football Clubs Forum in the state.

The delegation, led by veteran sports personality Salisu Ibrahim, popularly known as Alhaji Danladi, commended the senator for what it described as his outstanding contributions to sports and youth development in the country.

They also congratulated him on the performance of Barau FC in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League season.
