In March 2025, the Court of Appeal in Abuja had set aside actions taken against the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano. The appellate court later transmitted the case record to the Supreme Court, advising all parties to exercise caution pending the apex court’s ruling.
In a unanimous ruling delivered by a three-member panel led by Justice Biobele Abraham Georgewill, the Court of Appeal accepted the withdrawal of an application filed by the Kano State Government following the record’s transmission to the Supreme Court.
