The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed five separate fire incidents across different parts of the Kano metropolis within 24 hours, between January 27 and 28, 2026.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer of the service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the first incident was recorded at about 4:17 am on January 27 at Badawa in Nassarawa Local Government Area.

“The distress call was received from one of our personnel, PFS II Ibrahim Adudusalam, reporting a fire outbreak at Badawa,” the statement read.

It added that firefighters from the Dakata Fire Station were immediately deployed to the scene, where they discovered a pharmacy shop measuring about 10 by 15 feet, slightly affected by fire, which was already under control on their arrival.

The second incident occurred at about 1:20 pm along Maiduguri Road at the Danladi Nasidi Housing Estate, following a report by the Nigerian Communications Commission.

Firefighters from the Danladi Nasidi Fire Station responded promptly and found an open area used for MTN and Airtel communication antennas affected by fire, which was also under control before their arrival.

At about 6:30 pm the same day, another fire outbreak was reported at Singar Market, opposite Bello Dandago.

Personnel from the Sabon Gari Fire Station were mobilised and discovered a container vehicle with registration number AGL 276 XY conveying cartons of Indomie noodles engulfed in flames.

The statement noted that parts of the vehicle and its contents were slightly damaged, but swift intervention by firefighters prevented major losses.

“By the grace of Allah and the prompt response of our men, the fire was successfully extinguished, and further damage was averted,” the service said.

The fourth incident was recorded along Independence Road, opposite Aminci Radio, also in Nassarawa Local Government Area.

Firefighters from the Sabon Gari Fire Station arrived to find an open area measuring about 120 by 60 feet, used as a steel turning processing plant, engulfed in flames.

The fire reportedly affected six turning machines, two fixed generators, two mobile generators, as well as some streetlight steel poles, solar panels and pallet cutting equipment, though it was brought under control on arrival.

The fifth fire outbreak occurred at Ja’en, opposite Ajawa, where firefighters from the Sharada Fire Station responded to a distress call.

They discovered a ground-floor residential building measuring about 25 by 25 feet, consisting of two rooms and a kitchen, slightly affected by fire.

No casualties were recorded in any of the incidents.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Fire Service has advised residents to take precautionary measures to prevent fire outbreaks.

The service urged members of the public to always switch off electrical appliances when not in use, avoid illegal electrical connections, store flammable materials safely, install fire extinguishers where possible, and promptly report fire incidents to the nearest fire station.
