Former NARTO Chairman Kassim Bataiya Becomes NDC Candidate for Kano South

Alhaji Kassim Ibrahim Bataiya, a former President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Kano South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bataiya, also known as Durbin Albasu, was adopted by party stakeholders during a meeting held on Sunday in Kano.

He is a businessman and politician who previously served as President of NARTO.

Party members said his emergence followed consultations among stakeholders and supporters of the party in the state.

The development is part of preparations by the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kano State.
