In a decisive move to restore peace and security, the Kano State Government, in collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF), has intensified operations against bandits’ activities in Shanono and Tsanyawa communities.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Tuesday

Governor Yusuf visited the JTF bases in ‘Yankamaye, Faruruwa and Tsaure areas on Tuesday, where he met with officers and troops directly engaged in the fight against banditry.

He assured them of full government support, promising enhanced logistics, operational resources, and all necessary assistance to sustain and strengthen ongoing security operations in the areas.

The multi-agency operation is anchored on effective Kano/Katsina border management, improved logistics, additional deployment of security personnel, and enhanced inter-agency synergy to ensure rapid response to emerging threats.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that infrastructure improvements will be implemented in the area to enhance accessibility to remote communities, while community empowerment initiatives are being introduced to strengthen local self-defence and vigilance.

Speaking on the operation, the governor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protect every resident, warning criminals that the state will relentlessly pursue bandits until peace is fully restored.

He called on community members to cooperate with security agencies, provide actionable intelligence, and remain vigilant.

Security agencies confirmed that the combined measures, improved mobility, reinforced deployments, and community engagement, are already yielding positive results, significantly reducing bandit incursions in the affected areas.

Speaking on behalf of the heads of security agencies, the Bridgate Commandant, Bakavou, Brig. General A.M. Tukur appreciated the Governor’s logistics support to the troops.

They also ensure implementation of strategic operation with full observance of the principles of human rights.
