The Kano State Football Association (KSFA) has announced plans to conduct the state preliminary draw for the 2026 President’s Federation Cup on Wednesday at its secretariat inside Sani Abacha Stadium.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Chairman of the association, Sharif Rabi’u Inuwa Ahlan, who said the draw will determine the match pairings for teams participating in the state preliminary stage of the national competition.

Ahlan explained that the exercise is being organised in line with directives from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which instructed all state football associations to complete their preliminary matches between March 22 and April 26.

According to him, six teams from Kano State have registered for this year’s tournament. They include Kano Pillars FC, Barau FC, Bichi First FC, Azuhba FC, Chanji Boys FC and Pro Line FC.

The chairman noted that the two teams that reach the final of the state competition will represent Kano at the national stage of the President’s Federation Cup.

Ahlan assured participating clubs that the association would ensure fairness and transparency throughout the competition.

“We will ensure a fair and firm process for all participating teams without fear or favour,” he said.

He also disclosed that a four-man committee has been constituted by the association to organise the preliminary stage of the tournament.

The committee is chaired by the association’s Vice Chairman, Aminu Muhammad Chana, with Rilwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, Hassan Abdullahi Garo and Halliru Alassan Sumaila serving as members.

The KSFA chairman urged the participating teams to remain focused and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the competition.

He also called on football stakeholders in Kano State to continue supporting the programmes and policies of the association to ensure the development of football in the state.
