Hassan Danjuma, the lawmaker representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has died.

Danjuma, who was elected in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), reportedly died on Saturday.

His death was confirmed in a Facebook post by Saifullahi Hassan, a media aide to former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

According to the aide, the late lawmaker was seen in good health on Tuesday when he attended a meeting at Kwankwaso’s residence in Abuja.

The meeting, Our sources gathered, centred on preparations for the forthcoming African Democratic Congress (ADC) state congress.

Danjuma had recently defected from the NNPP to the ADC but remained politically aligned with Kwankwaso.

He was also among five Kano federal lawmakers who refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside Governor Abba Yusuf.

Meanwhile, his death adds to recent losses recorded within Kano’s political circle.

Recall that in December, two members of the Kano State House of Assembly, Aminu Sa’adu (Ungoggo) and Sarki Aliyu (Kano Municipal), died within hours of each other.
