The Kano State Government has sunk N1 billion into the renovation of the state-owned Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital, Health Commissioner Abubakar Labaran said on Saturday.
Mr Labaran, while conducting the Presidential Media Team, currently on an inspection tour of completed and ongoing projects, said that the facility, which has 230-bed spaces, was undergoing a total overhaul to boost service delivery.
According to him, the hospital comprises four main areas – obstetrics and gynaecology, internal medicine, paediatrics and surgery.
He said that the hospital had never received the attention it was currently getting since it was established in the colonial era.
“Now, it is undergoing a total renovation.
“It has been converted to a totally new facility; everywhere is so clean,” Mr Labaran said.
The Commissioner of Works, Marwan Ahmed-Aminu, in a remark, said the work in the hospital would be completed “in the next two months”.
He said the hospital would be equipped with modern facilities when the renovation work is completed.
Earlier, the team had visited the Asiya Bayero Hospital reclaimed by the current administration after it was sold out by a previous administration.
