Kano State Government Declares Second-Term Break for the 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Kano State Government, through the Ministry of Education, has officially announced the commencement date for the second term holiday for the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to the statement, all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state are to proceed on second term holiday effective from Friday 17 April, 2026 for day schools and Saturday 18 April, 2026 for Boarding Schools.

The statement further stated that the holiday period will provide students and staff with adequate time for rest and preparation ahead of the third term. Schools are expected to resume for the third term on Sunday 3 May, 2026 for Boarding Schools and Monday 4 May, 2026 for Day Schools, when academic activities will continue as scheduled.

The Commissioner of Education, Gwani Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, while wishing the students and pupils a successful holiday, advised parents and guardians to ensure that their wards return promptly on the resumption dates to avoid disruption of academic progress. He also urged school administrators to comply strictly with the approved academic calendar.

The Commissioner also restated Kano State Government’s commitment to ensuring a conducive learning environment and maintaining high standards in the education sector.
