The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has commended a Kano-based youth advocate, Zainab Nasir Ahmad, for her sustained efforts in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among young people.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the agency’s Public Relations Officer in Kano State, Mr Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, via his Facebook account, and later confirmed by Kano Times.

According to the statement, Ahmad, who is the Executive Director of the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS), has distinguished herself through consistent advocacy promoting healthy living and self-reliance among youths.

“A standout among her peers, Zainab Nasir Ahmad has demonstrated exceptional commitment to raising awareness among young people about the dangers of drug abuse while promoting the values of self-reliance. The NDLEA commends her efforts,” the statement read.

Ahmad has been actively leading campaigns across Kano State and beyond, sensitising young people to the risks and consequences associated with substance abuse, while also encouraging peaceful coexistence within communities.

Her organisation, a youth-led non-governmental group, focuses on public health advocacy, social responsibility, and youth development initiatives across Nigeria.
