The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano Strategic Command, has raided multiple drug joints across Kano State and arrested no fewer than 56 suspects, including a suspect in a five-year-old homicide case.

The arrests, according to the agency, were made possible following a sustained three‑day operation, as part of the ongoing “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”

The Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and Public Relations Officer of the command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement released on Wednesday.

“The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has dislodged multiple drug joints across Kano State and arrested 56 suspects, including a suspect in a five-year-old homicide during a sustained three-day operation, as part of the continued “Operation Ramadan Mubarak”, Maigatari said.

Recall that the operation targeted notorious drug locations in Kofar Mata, Fagge, Kasuwar Rimi, Medile, Badawa, and Sabon Gari, and extended to dislodge illicit drug points both within and outside the Kano metropolis.

As a continuation of earlier enforcement efforts, NDLEA operatives carried out coordinated raids on identified hotspots, sustaining pressure on criminal networks that have long operated in these communities.

He said the focused action was aimed at disrupting distribution channels and restoring safety to neighbourhoods adversely affected by drug-related activities.

During the raids, officers recovered various exhibits, including cannabis sativa, Exhol‑5, diazepam and pregabalin, among other controlled substances and associated paraphernalia.

“The seizures represent a significant blow to local supply networks and underscore the command’s determination to remove dangerous drugs from circulation.

Among those apprehended was 30‑year‑old Yunusa Yasin of the Badawa area. Yasin was arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred five years ago and has been handed over to the police for further investigation and any subsequent legal action.

The command reiterated its unwavering commitment to achieving a drug‑free Kano in line with the agenda of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brg. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd).

“The NDLEA will continue to conduct targeted operations and engage with communities to protect public health and safety,” the statement added.

The agency urged members of the public to continue providing information about locations and individuals involved in illicit drug activities to assist the agency in sustaining gains and ensuring the safety of all communities.
