The police command in Kano has arrested six suspects involved in theft and receiving stolen property in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Thursday.

Mr Kiyawa said that five suspects were arrested following a report of a stolen tricycle at Panshekara Quarters, Kano.

He added that the stolen tricycle, valued at ₦3.5 million, was sold to the sixth suspect, Umar Dahiru.

The suspects confessed to stealing another tricycle, sold to Mr Dahiru for ₦2.7 million.

Two tricycles and a horse bought with the proceeds of the crime were recovered.

According to Kiyawa, Dahiru admitted buying the tricycles knowing they were stolen, even though they had been returned to their owners.

Mr Kiyawa said the police commissioner, Ibrahim Bakori, had directed an investigation to bring perpetrators to justice.

He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
