The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umaru, over the death of his mother, Hajiya Maimuna Isa Umaru.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, said Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the late matriarch, describing her as a woman of exemplary character.

“The news of her death shocked me and caused me so much pain and trauma. She was a caring mother with an exemplary way of life,” the governor was quoted as saying.

The governor, who was away on official engagement when the death occurred, had earlier sent two separate delegations to attend the funeral and offer condolences, led by the Chief of Staff, Dr Sulaiman Walid Sani (mni), and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim.

Speaking at the Rano Emir’s Palace, Yusuf said: “On behalf of my family, the government, and the entire people of Kano State, we extend our condolences to you and the people of Rano Emirate. We pray that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings and admits her into Jannatul Firdaus.”

Governor Yusuf was accompanied by some political leaders, including representatives of the APC at both national and state levels, commissioners, special advisers, heads of agencies, and other government officials.

In his response, the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umaru, thanked the governor for the visit, noting that the relationship between the governor and the people of Rano Emirate remained strong and unbreakable.

“The bond of love between the governor and the people of Rano cannot be overemphasised,” the Emir said, adding that he appreciated the administration’s developmental projects in the area, including water provision, road construction, and market development.

The governor and his entourage also visited the family of the late Assistant Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Barrister Abdussalam Ginsau, who died in Abuja during preparations for the party’s national convention.

Describing the deceased as “hardworking, honest and God-fearing,” Yusuf prayed for the repose of his soul, saying: “May Allah admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.”

Earlier, the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Umar Doguwa, told the gathering that preliminary findings showed that the late Ginsau died of natural causes.

“He was a dependable ally, and we pray Allah forgives his shortcomings,” Doguwa said, visibly shaken.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Rano Local Government Area, Nazir Muhammad Yau, alongside the village head and the father of the deceased, thanked the governor for his support and solidarity with the bereaved families.
