Borno bomb blast: The threat of terrorism is still far from over — ACF

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has described the recent bombing of a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, as a stark reminder that Nigeria is still battling to contain terrorism and insecurity.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the ACF’s National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Baba, and shared with journalists in Kaduna on Friday.

According to the Forum, it received reports of the explosion, which occurred at a Maiduguri mosque on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

“ACF deeply regrets and firmly condemns this attack. We mourn those who lost their lives and pray for the peaceful repose of their souls,” the statement read.

The Forum also extended sympathy to those injured, praying for their swift recovery.

“We stand with the wounded and hope they regain their health as quickly as possible,” it added.

Condolences were likewise offered to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Borno State, and Nigerians in general.

The ACF stressed that the incident highlights the continuing challenge of terrorism and insecurity across the country.

“In context, this tragic occurrence serves as a grim reminder that terrorism and insecurity have not yet been subdued or effectively contained,” the Forum noted.

Referencing its earlier Christmas message, the Forum urged security agencies to strengthen the fight against terrorists and criminal groups.

“The battle against insecurity must be pursued with the full force and commitment that the situation demands. It is unacceptable for criminals to be allowed to destabilize the nation,” it said.

The Forum further called for increased vigilance, especially in public places such as worship centres, markets, and events.

“Agents of terror and criminality—whether local or foreign—must never be allowed to undermine normalcy,” the statement concluded.
