The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) national working committee (NWC) has announced the dissolution of all its executive committees in Kano state.

On December 30, ward executives in Kano sacked and expelled Hashimu Dungurawa as its state party chairman, just two weeks after his re-election.

The decision was reached by 27 executive members of the Gargari ward in Dawakin Tofa LGA who accused Dungurawa of creating divisions within the party, instigating internal crises.

Following his removal, Abdullahi Abiya was appointed as the acting state chairman of the NNPP in Kano.

The appointment came after the NNPP state executive committee reviewed a formal resolution submitted by the executives of the Dawakin Tofa LGA.

However, in a statement on Friday, Ladipo Johnson, the national publicity secretary, said the party has dissolved all its executive committees in Kano state.

He said the decision aligns with the party’s constitution and was made to pave the way for the appointment of caretaker committees, which will be announced in due course.

The NNPP NWC expressed gratitude to all members who have served in the party’s structures across Kano state, acknowledging their contributions.

“The National Working Committee of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has in accordance with the constitution of the party announced the total dissolution of its Executive Committees from State down to the Wards, in the entire Kano State,” the statement reads.

“Caretaker Committees to act in the interim will be announced presently.”

The party noted that the move was aimed at restructuring and strengthening the party’s machinery in Kano ahead of future political engagements.
