Kano Hisbah receives 12,446 complaints, resolves 1,908 in 2025

The Kano State Hisbah Board has received 12,446 complaints from members of the public across the state’s 44 local government areas in 2025.

The Deputy Commander of the board, Dr Mujahiddeen Aminuddeen, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday.

He said out of the total number of complaints received, the board successfully resolved 1,908 cases at its headquarters in Kano and across its offices in the 44 local government areas.

Aminuddeen also revealed that the Hisbah recovered more than N145.4m belonging to residents through its debt recovery and child support mediation services within the year under review.

According to him, the board conducted nine major operations during the year, leading to the arrest of 132 persons at different locations within and outside Kano metropolis.

“The board had conducted during the year nine major operations where its personnel arrested 132 people at various places within Kano and outside the state capital,” the statement read.

He added that the board recorded 4,246 criminal cases at its headquarters and local government offices, which were subsequently transferred to the police and other relevant agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

“We have recovered over N145.4 million under the board’s debt and child support mediation services,” the statement said.

The deputy commander urged ministries, departments and agencies, as well as other stakeholders, to continue to cooperate with the board in curbing violations of Shari’a law in the state.
