The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the massive review and upgrade of the Kano–Kongolom Road project with a total cost of ₦334 billion.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.

Governor Yusuf described the approval by the Federal Executive Council as a historic breakthrough that will transform Kano’s road network and reposition the state as the commercial and logistics heartbeat of Northern Nigeria.

He said the redesigned project will span 132 kilometers and be constructed as a three-lane concrete carriageway equipped with solar-powered street lights and modern CCTV surveillance systems.

The governor noted that the Kano–Kongolom corridor links Kano with Jigawa and Katsina States, making it one of the most strategic economic routes in the North-West and a vital gateway for trade, agriculture, and industrial growth.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the scale of investment demonstrates President Tinubu’s strong commitment to the development of Kano State and the wider North-West region.

“This project will open new economic frontiers for our farmers, traders, and transporters, while drastically reducing travel time and improving safety for road users,” the governor said.

He further commended the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for championing quality infrastructure delivery and ensuring that the Kano project received priority attention at the Federal level.

Governor Yusuf assured that the Kano State Government will provide full cooperation and an enabling environment for contractors to ensure smooth execution and timely completion of the project.

He added that the project will create jobs, stimulate investment, and strengthen Kano’s position as a regional commercial powerhouse.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue engaging the Federal Government on projects that will directly improve the living standards of Kano citizens.

“This is what the result of our Kano First Agenda brings through the Renewed Hope Agenda” The Governor affirmed
