The Kano State House of Assembly on Monday approved the nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor, following the presentation and adoption of the report of its ad hoc screening committee.
Our sources reports that Garo’s confirmation came after the 12-member committee, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Bello Muhammad Butubutua, submitted its report during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore.
The committee had been constituted after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf forwarded Garo’s name to the Assembly for screening and confirmation as deputy governor nominee.
Presenting the committee’s findings, Butubutua said the nominee was thoroughly screened and found qualified for the position.
He noted that the committee carefully examined Garo’s academic credentials, professional experience, and personal background in line with the Assembly’s standard screening procedures.
Following deliberations on the report, lawmakers unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendations and confirmed Garo as fit and proper to serve as Deputy Governor of Kano State.
Speaker Falgore subsequently announced the Assembly’s approval, paving the way for Governor Yusuf to swear in Garo as the new deputy governor.
The confirmation marks the conclusion of the legislative process that began after the governor formally requested the House to screen the nominee.
Recall that assembly spokesperson and Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddin Sani Shawai, had earlier told SolaceBase that the House follows a rigorous vetting process for all executive nominees, including verification of academic qualifications, work experience, and character assessment.
