Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has launched the distribution of 100,000 bags of rice donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to support vulnerable residents of the state.

The gesture complements the state government’s humanitarian efforts, according to a statement by the governor’s chief press secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, on Saturday.

Mr Yusuf, represented by the secretary to the state government, Umar Ibrahim, expressed appreciation for the foundation’s generous donation, describing it as timely and impactful.

While assuring that many people had benefited from the gesture, especially the vulnerable people, the governor stressed the importance of extending a helping hand to the needy during Ramadan.

Mr Yusuf assured transparency and accountability in the distribution process through the relevant community structure and stakeholders, ensuring that the items were safely delivered to the intended beneficiaries.

Earlier, the commissioner of agriculture and natural resources, Danjuma Mahmud, commended the Dangote Foundation for the confidence it reposed in the governor by granting the state government the opportunity to directly oversee the distribution exercise.
