Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the Federal Government’s intervention to complete the long-abandoned Wuju-Wuju Road project at a cost of ₦47 billion.

This was disclosed in a statement released on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf made the commendation during the 35th Executive Council meeting, recalling that the vital road project was initiated in 2013 under the administration of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso but was left unfinished throughout the eight-year tenure of the Ganduje administration.

He explained that after a thorough assessment, his government sought federal support to ensure the project’s completion, adding that the request received prompt attention from the Federal Executive Council, which approved ₦47 billion for the multipurpose road.

The governor described President Tinubu’s approval as a strong indication of responsive leadership and a firm commitment to infrastructure development, especially in Kano State.

He also commended the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, for his crucial role in ensuring the project’s approval. According to the governor, Hon. Bichi demonstrated consistency, dedication, and relentless follow-up from the National Assembly to the Presidential Villa.

Governor Yusuf noted that Hon. Abba Bichi remained steadfast from the initial request through to the final approval, ensuring that Kano State’s interests were adequately represented and protected.

He described Hon. Bichi as a true ambassador of Kano State at the National Assembly and urged other federal lawmakers from the state to emulate his commitment, effectiveness, and patriotism, regardless of political affiliations.

The governor further acknowledged Hon. Bichi’s contributions to other major projects in Kano, including the International Conference Centre along Maiduguri Road and the proposed international-standard stadium in Bichi.

Governor Yusuf also used the opportunity to appeal to President Tinubu to approve additional major projects for Kano State, given its status as Nigeria’s most populous state, while reaffirming his administration’s willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government to accelerate sustainable development.

He assured the people of Kano that his administration would continue to pursue strategic partnerships aimed at delivering meaningful benefits and enduring infrastructure development across the state.
