The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has congratulated the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, on his birthday, reflecting on their long-standing political relationship and shared commitment to the development of the state.

In a birthday message issued on Monday, Kwankwaso recalled years of political engagement with Yusuf, during which the governor served in several strategic roles across different administrations.

He said Yusuf first worked with him as a Personal Assistant during his first term as governor and while he served as a minister, later as Principal Private Assistant, and subsequently as commissioner during his second tenure as governor, before emerging as the elected governor of Kano State.

According to Kwankwaso, Yusuf’s contributions across these roles were instrumental to the vision and programmes pursued for the development of Kano State.

“On this day, I celebrate the birthday of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf. I reflect on the many years of our shared political journey, during which he served in various important capacities through which he contributed to the vision and programmes we pursued for the development of Kano State”, he noted.

The former governor prayed that the new year would grant Yusuf wisdom, good health and clarity of purpose as he continues to lead the state.

PUNCH Online reports that Kwankwaso’s message comes against the backdrop of recent political speculation over a possible defection of Yusuf from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress, reports that have generated widespread debate within Kano’s political space.

In recent remarks, the NNPP leader had publicly called on the governor to remain with the party, urging him not to defect amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
