Governor Yusuf made the assurance during a meeting with community leaders and stakeholders, underscoring his administration’s commitment to supporting residents impacted by the project.

“We understand the inconvenience caused by this important project, and we will ensure that all property owners are fairly compensated,” Governor Yusuf said. He emphasized that compensation would be processed directly into the affected residents’ bank accounts to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

In addition to compensation, the governor announced that new plots of land would be allocated to affected residents free of charge, giving them an opportunity to rebuild their homes.

“We are committed to urban renewal and enhancing the infrastructure in Kano. As the most populous city in Nigeria, it is essential that we set high standards for infrastructure development to meet global standards,” Governor Yusuf added.

Alhaji Abba Aminu Imam, Chairman of the Tal’udu community, expressed his gratitude for the development but urged the government to expedite the compensation process. “We are grateful for the development, but we urge the government to expedite the compensation process for the affected families,” Imam said.

To address these concerns, the government has formed an ad-hoc committee tasked with reviewing and ensuring a fair and efficient settlement and compensation process.

The Tal’udu Overpass is part of a larger N30 billion infrastructure initiative aimed at improving traffic flow, beautifying the urban environment, and elevating the overall quality of life in Kano. The initiative also includes the construction of the Underpass Bridge at Kofar Dan’Agundi.
