Governor Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has commended the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, for his efforts in reducing thuggery and other crimes in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in Kano on Wednesday.
The governor made this commendation during a courtesy visit to the police command’s Headquarters in Bompai, Kano, on Wednesday.
Mr Yusuf expressed his delight with the police’s swift arrest of the suspects involved in the brutal killing of a housewife and her six children.
He said he was too elated that the incident had been resolved within six hours, assuring Bakori of his government’s continued support to eradicate crimes in the state.
The governor also highlighted the significant reduction in insecurity, particularly thuggery, banditry, and kidnapping, since he took office in 2023.
He attributed the success to the collaborative efforts between the state government and the police command, emphasising that community policing in Kano was unparalleled.
Mr Bakori, in his response, thanked the governor for his support and fatherly advice, which he said had contributed to the police’s success in crimes’ fighting.
He assured the governor of the police’s continued commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.
