The troops of Joint Task Force have rescued an abducted victim from armed bandits in the early hours of Sunday.
The troops operating around Yankwada, acting on a tip-off about the movement of armed bandits from Daurawa, Kira, Katsina State, advancing towards the Kano axis were engaged in a fierce gun battle.
Our sources gathered that during the operation, one kidnap victim, Rabiu Alhaji Halilu, 38, was rescued.
Halilu had sustained a gunshot wound on the leg and was evacuated to the JTF Faruruwa Medical Centre for treatment.
Two motorcycles abandoned by fleeing bandits were recovered, and an undisclosed number of cattle were also recovered.
When contacted , Army 3Brigade spokesman, Major Babatunde Zubairu confirmed the development to our source.
According to him, ”Acting swiftly, a fighting patrol was mobilized to the fringe of the Kano/Katsina border. At Ungwan Dogo/Ungwan Tudu, the troops encountered the armed bandits and engaged them in a fierce exchange, forcing the bandits to withdraw in disarray towards Matazu LGA of Katsina State.
He said the troops remain on high alert as operations continue to secure the area.
