Police recover three stolen vehicles, apprehend five suspects in Kano

The Kano Police Command has recovered three stolen vehicles and arrested five suspects in connection with armed robbery and motor vehicle theft.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests of the suspects and recovery of the vehicles in a statement on Wednesday.

“The Kano State Police Command has made significant breakthroughs in its efforts to combat crime in the state, recovering three stolen motor vehicles and arresting five suspects in connection with armed robbery and motor vehicle theft,” he said.

Haruna said on 3rd January 2026, the Command’s team of Special Intervention Squad (SIS), on the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, intercepted a stolen Toyota Corolla motor vehicle along Hotoro NNPC roundabout, Kano State, along with a suspect, Mohammad Ismail, 25, of Wuntin Dada Quarters, Bauchi State.

He added that discrete investigations led to the arrest of four additional suspects: Abdullahi Ishaq, 23, Abdullahi Bashir, 24, Nasir Muhammad, 23, and Nuru Muhammad, 25.

“The suspects confessed to stealing the vehicle from Bauchi, and another motor vehicle, a Honda Pilot Jeep, property of Bauchi State Government, which was sent to Plateau State and was also recovered,” he said.

He said in another incident, on 6th January 2026, a Toyota Seina motor vehicle with number plate RBC-801HM, maroon in colour, suspected to have been stolen, was abandoned and recovered at an isolated area in Hotoro North, Kano by Police Officers attached to Hotoro Division, Kano.

“The owner is requested to come forward with proof of ownership to the PPRO Office, Kano State Police Command, or contact: 09065885622,” Haruna added.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for their dedication and commitment to duty, and thanked the good people of the state for their continued support and cooperation.

“The Kano State Police Command urges citizens to report any suspicious activities or information to the nearest police station or contact the Kano State Police Command,” he added.
